2015

High-Level Meeting “Building Trust in the Wider Europe” Held in Brussels

The Nizami Ganjavi International Center (NGIC), in cooperation with the European Forum for International Mediation and Dialogue (mediatEUr), organized a high-level meeting titled “Building Trust in the Wider Europe” on 19–20 February 2015 in Brussels.

The event gathered former heads of state, senior policymakers, and international experts to discuss critical issues of peace, security, and trust-building in Europe amid growing geopolitical tensions. Participants addressed key topics such as the Ukraine conflict, the need for a coherent EU–Russia policy, the rise of radicalization, and the human dimension of global crises.

Discussions emphasized the importance of dialogue, reconciliation, sustainable transitions, and innovative policymaking as essential tools to rebuild mutual trust in international relations. Special focus was also given to energy diplomacy, with Azerbaijan’s role through the Southern Gas Corridor highlighted as a model for constructive cooperation.

Outcomes and recommendations from the Brussels meeting were set to inform the 2015 Global Baku Forum, serving as a platform for proposing bold ideas and new approaches to shaping a more stable and inclusive world order.
